Family of Clubs Meeting
On 3 June the Rotary over 80 Rotarians attended the 12th Annual “Family of Clubs” meeting hosted by the Rotary Club of Cannock at the Ramada Hotel. In addition to Cannock’s mother Club, Walsall, represented at the meeting were Rotarians from Cannock’s daughter Club’s Rugeley; Brownhills; Penkridge and Burntwood and District together with Penkridge daughter Club, Brewood and District.
Commenting on this unique event, Cannock’s President, Mike Sutton said it was a wonderful example of Rotarian fellowship.
The guest speaker was John Giffard CBE, QPM, DL, former Chief Constable of Staffordshire, Honorary member of the Rotary Club of Brewood and District and a former GSE team member to the USA. Mr Giffard ancestors, who came to Britain with William the Conqueror, have resided at Chillington in South Staffordshire since the 1100’s and he spoke about the challenges of moving from being police officers to managing a 4000 acre farm and his efforts to maintain the Georgian Chillington Hall.
