New President
New President
New Man at the Helm
1st July 2009 the Rotary Club of Cannock inducted David Marklew JP as its President for the Rotary year 2009/10
David who is aged 53 is the 75th President of the club and follows in the footsteps of some great past president of this superb club
David joined Rotary 30th June 1999 exactly 10 years to the date he was inducted for the second time of asking. He has served as a committee chair for all service committees and has a good knowledge of Rotary
David stated that being President of a club once in a Rotary lifetime is a wonderful experience but to be president twice within 10 years of joining is a great honour and I hope it says that I must have done a reasonable job last time around or maybe the club want me to get it right this time.
My last stint was in 2006 only three years ago so I have an idea what to expect as President but I have an open mind to the year ahead in terms of projects and events
I will support the usual important projects such as Polio plus, Shelter box, Shoe box etc but will also strive to look for other avenues for our club to support.
We have an ongoing water pump project in Zambia, a LEPRA project in India and a joint three way international project with our friend is France and Germany to support a hospital in ATTAC Ethiopia.
We also have local projects here in the UK that will need our continued support and we will give them every bit of support we can in the year ahead.
I have a great team around me, a team of youth and experience so I look forward to the year ahead.
I aim to ensure the survival of the club by the introduction of new members and the retention of existing members, for a club to survive it need to grow and our focus will be on recruitment and retention for the year ahead.
