Aqua Boxes

Working together as a team is our Rotary aim and by joining with other clubs and organisations we can make a huge difference.The Rotary and Soroptimist clubs of Cannock joined forces in an effort to provide aid to the people of Pakistan following the earthquake disaster. They had already worked successfully together following the tsunami and now wish to provide help to the people suffering from this latest disaster.

Rotary International has, for a long time, provided emergency boxes and aqua boxes to disaster areas. Soroptimist International provides funds to disaster areas; SI of Cannock have provided the contents for the aqua boxes. On this occasion, the clubs held a joint display and raised £680 which was used to send emergency shelter to Pakistan.

An aqua box contains the essential, emergency items needed in the aftermath of a disaster. When emptied, the box becomes a water purifying tank. It will hold 50 litres of water and enough purifying tablets to provide 500,000 litres of clean water.
